Obituary for Alice H. Sheaffer

Alice H. Sheaffer passed away in the comfort of her home in Solebury Township, PA on Sunday, June 27, 2021. She was 94.

Alice was born at home in Lahaska, PA, to the late Herman and Helen (Bennett) Heston, and remained a lifelong resident on Street Road in Solebury.

She was a graduate of Buckingham High School and worked as a switchboard operator at Delaware Valley College in the 1950’s, where she met and married her late husband James A. Sheaffer a graduate and employee of the college. She was employed as the head of housekeeping for Briarleaf Nursing Home of Doylestown, PA for over a decade. Alice enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, quilting, loved her pets and deeply enjoyed doing activities with her only grandchild Jordan.

Alice was a devoted wife of 60 years to the late James A. Sheaffer. She is survived by her three children, James A. Sheaffer Jr., Nancy Sheaffer Nevins, Stanley A. Sheaffer and the late Eileen Sheaffer; her siblings Myrtle Michener, Herman Heston, and the late Anna Smith; and grandson Jordan M. Nevins.

A viewing will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home of Doylestown, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Saturday, July 3rd from 10-11 am, with a service to follow.

Burial will be held at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940 on Friday, July 16th at 1:30 pm

It provides home cooked meals delivered by volunteers to homebound seniors.
